Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below for common questions related to therapy, billing, and scheduling.

How do I schedule an intro call?

To schedule a brief, free intro call, you can do one of the following:

  • Schedule a time through calendly here.

  • Reach out to me directly to coordinate a time with our schedules (this works best if you're looking for something that isn't visible on Calendly). You can submit a request through my website or can call/text me at ‪720-257-9143‬.

What does the process look like to enter therapy?

The process for entering into therapy looks like the following:

  1. Schedule an intro call with me where we discuss your needs for therapy and whether I would be a good fit with you as a therapist. We'll discuss what you're looking for, your availability, and how you would like to pay for sessions.

  2. If we decide to proceed, we will schedule a first full session together and I will send you a link with virtual paperwork to complete before our first session. You will have my contact information to ask any questions related to therapy prior to starting.

  3. We start our first session and go from there!

What can I expect in my first therapy session?

The first several therapy sessions are usually gaining more context on you and your background, including why you're looking for in therapy and what your goals are. I do typically ask a variety of questions that may assess for different mental health issues as well. I will also review with you any details regarding confidentiality and informed consent. Near the end of our session, we will discuss how frequently you'd like to be seen and any next steps.

How long is a therapy session?

I provide 60-minute, virtual sessions.

Are you in-person or virtual?

I'm currently only accepting virtual clients. I may have option in the future to provide in-person sessions for those in the Denver, CO area.

When are you available for therapy sessions?

I am able to see clients Mondays through Thursdays during the daytime and evenings. My availability shifts often so please reach out for more specific timing.

What therapeutic approach do you use?

I try to use a variety of evidence-based therapy practices, tailored to what you're needing. I have extensive background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and several other solutions-oriented approaches.

Whether you are looking for a more free-form place to process or an intentional structured setting where you can learn skills and work on strategies (or a mix of both), I'm happy to work with you based on your interest.

How often should I attend therapy sessions?

Part of this will depend on what you're needing and how severe your symptoms are. For new clients, I do typically encourage you to begin at once weekly, at least for a month or so. This is so that we can more quickly get to know one another and build a trusting relationship. From there, therapy can be maintained at weekly, reduced to every other week, or changed to monthly sessions.

If you are experiencing particularly severe symptoms, I may recommend twice weekly. This is usually only after I have evaluated that it is necessary.

What is your cancellation policy?

I recognize that last-minute things come up. For this reason, I charge a lower cancellation fee than the cost of a full session would be without insurance. I require a $50 cancellation fee if you have contacted me less than 24-hours in advance of our session. This is not able to be charged to insurance for coverage as no service will have been provided.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, it is a safe space! There are only a few situations in which I can break your confidentiality and what you share with me. These are situations that may involve harm to yourself or others and are discussed at the beginning of your very first session in addition to your intake paperwork so you're informed.

What age group do you work with?

I see clients aged 18+. If you are needing therapy for a minor, please reach out to me as I may have resources to point you in the right direction.

Do you prescribe medication?

I do not. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I am licensed to provide therapy and not prescribe. I can provide referrals to a medical provider if this is what you are needing.

How do I pay for sessions?

I am able to take some insurance plans depending on whether you reside in Illinois or Colorado. You can see more information regarding accepted plans by state here.

For copays or private pay, I accept credit card as payment. If you would prefer to pay via check, please let me know and I may have options to accommodate this. Because I am fully remote, I am unable to accept cash as a form of payment for sessions.

What insurance do you take?

You can see all the insurance plans I'm able to take, based upon state, at this page.
